Ward 7 of the Witrand Hospital was an existing block on the hospital which required major alterations to the extent that only 30% of the structure was retained. The New ward has 38 dementia wards and 58 long-term psychiatry ward. 
The design team had to ensure that the new proposals still fit into the existing structure as part of a conservation effort. The facility was commissioned January 2016.
