Location: Kitwe, Zambia
This was an academic proposal by one of the Vanguard Architects team members. The design proposal was created as an ambitious attempt to revitalise and rejuvenate the city of Kitwe in Zambia as the “once upon a time” hub of the Copperbelt province it used to be by offering a luxury hotel along the waterfront that would be a magnet for holiday makers, weekenders, business travellers, event planners and entertainment seekers. Based on this prospective broad clientele base, the hotel was designed to house a wide range of facilities such as accommodation, restaurants, conference and banquet halls, casinos, bars and a few indoor and outdoor water entertainment facilities. This design was situated on the beautiful and naturistic but yet forgotten dams on the Copperbelt province of Kitwe, the Mindolo dam. The design takes advantage of the water body by incorporating it as part of the resort.
